Mayor Jorge Macri has urged the Government of the Province to collaborate closely in the fight against insecurity and has expressed his team's willingness to work together. Macri emphasized the importance of taking necessary measures to effectively address this issue.
According to official data from the City of Buenos Aires, 13 of the last 14 police officers murdered in the city lost their lives in the provincial territory while returning home after completing their service. It has also been reported that around 20,000 police officers from the City reside in the suburbs and serve in the capital district.
In a joint working meeting between the Security ministries of the City and the province of Buenos Aires, strategies aimed at addressing insecurity in the Greater Buenos Aires Area, which affects both districts, have been proposed. The meeting was led by ministers Waldo Wolff from the City and Javier Alonso from the province, and took place at the Puente 12 command of the Buenos Aires Police in La Matanza.
Waldo Wolff shared on his social networks: "We have met with the Security authorities of the Province of Buenos Aires with the commitment to set up a working group to address the issues faced by the citizens in general." Wolff reiterated his Security team's commitment to tackling people's problems regardless of political affiliation.
The dialogue emerged following a series of robberies targeting police officers from the City residing in the suburbs, after a call from Mayor Jorge Macri to Governor Axel Kicillof. This collaboration between both jurisdictions reflects a shared commitment in the fight against insecurity in the metropolitan region of Buenos Aires.
